STBBI screening

EFFICIENT AND CONFIDENTIAL CONSULTATION AND SCREENING SERVICE AS WELL AS THE RELEVANT ATTENTIVE TREATMENT

Please note that we are currently unable to proceed with any blood tests. A visit consists only of a consultation with the doctor.

Our screening services for sexually transmitted diseases (STD, STI, STBBI) apply equally to men, women, and teenagers. They cover the full range of potential infections:

  • Chlamydia;
  • Gonorrhea;
  • Hepatitis B;
  • Hepatitis C;
  • Urinary tract infection;
  • Syphilis;
  • Trichomoniasis;
  • Vaginitis;
  • Bacterial vaginosis;
  • Yeast vaginosis;
  • HIV (human immunodeficiency virus);

Other important issues.

HSV-1, or labial herpes, is not generally speaking a sexually transmitted disease. Caused by the presence of a virus in the body, it is an unpleasant minor ailment that tends to be recurrent. It is highly communicable when lesions are present, usually at the outer edge of a lip.

It is good to know that, even though the standard hepatitis B treatment consists of receiving three doses of the vaccine to stimulate the production of the right amount of antibodies, sometimes a single dose will do.  A test after two months will confirm if this is the case.

Also, a single negative test is not sufficient to ensure that you have not contracted a sexually transmitted disease. The incubation period of STDs is highly variable. It is thus recommended to undertake a second test in a timely manner. In the case of syphilis, a three-month delay is the norm.

Screening steps

Get a free and confidential consultation with a medical professional (all fees are covered by the RAMQ) at the Font Medical Centre.  Simple and fast, our screening service consists of seven steps:

  • Plan your consultation with our medical team;
  • Once your consultation is complete, a laboratory prescription will be forwarded to your email address;
  • Have the laboratory of your choice do the blood test;
  • Then book an appointment and our medical personnel will explain your results;
  • As needed: other follow-ups and sending of prescriptions directly to your pharmacy;
  • One can expect a period of up to two weeks after your test at a local community health centre (CLSC) or any other public laboratory for us to receive all your results. We usually receive them as the days go by;
  • Blood tests are most always covered 100 % by private insurance plans. Results from private laboratories are usually available within less than 72 hours.
